Choose Your New Luggage Carefully

The right luggage can go a long way towards making your travels simpler and more convenient. It's important that you look beyond fashion when choosing your luggage and search for functional and dependable bags. Your luggage should be well made to serve you for many years. Cheap bags can easily get ruined, usually when it's least convenient.

Choose bags that can be wheeled easily and are lightweight. However, they need to be strong. Be aware that your luggage won't usually be handled with a lot of care while being transported. Heavier bags might be piled on top of yours during transportation or in the baggage compartment. So it's important that you look for a tough and durable product.

Purchase luggage with well made, durable straps, wheels and handles. Check to be sure that they are securely fastened to the bag and try them out for ease of use.

Examine the wheels on the bottom of your luggage. These will be manufactured from durable materials on a good quality bag. If the bag's wheels are made from cheap plastic, it won't move as easily and will be in danger of tipping over as you wheel it along.

Also, carefully check the handle of any luggage you're considering. If it's a pull out handle, be sure that it slides easily and that it stays in place when put away. Otherwise it could bend if it comes out during baggage handling.

Pick luggage that has strong, durable zippers. If the zippers on your bags are of cheap metal construction, they'll be more likely to pull apart at an inopportune time. If there's too much pressure on the zipper it's quite likely to come apart.

Examine the material the luggage is made of. Can it resist scratches and is it waterproof? Will it tear easily?

Before purchasing your luggage, think about your traveling style. Some people like to check their baggage, and others just throw a few things in a bag and carry it on with them into the cabin. Also pay attention to weight and size, since there are restrictions on both of these for air travel.

Look for luggage that has lots of organizational features. Expandable bags are great for extended travels or for carrying home souvenirs. Bags that attach to each other with a strap are also practical if you're carrying more than one. Look for lots of pockets and compartments and organizers that will keep your outfits free of wrinkles.

Your luggage can be fashionable, but it doesn't have to be the latest style. Pick classic colors and avoid trendy patterns. Luggage is frequently used by several different people in a household, so choose a style and shade that is acceptable to everyone.
